Deadweight is a local-only macOS application. It does not collect, store, transmit, or share any personal data.

The App

Accesses file metadata (names, sizes, paths, dates) and file contents (read-only, for byte-for-byte duplicate verification) and disk-volume info, all locally, only to scan and measure.
Writes six UI preferences to macOS UserDefaults (bundle com.deadweight.app), and nothing else. That is the complete list: whether you have seen the welcome screen, whether you dismissed the Full Disk Access guide, whether dependency folders are included in a scan, the folder names you picked for Quick clean, the storage-map style, and the skyline scene. macOS also stores your window size and position, as it does for every app.
Never writes your scan results to disk. No file paths, no file names, no file contents, no duplicate lists. Results live in memory and are gone when you quit.
Makes ZERO network connections, verifiable with a monitor like Little Snitch. No analytics, no crash reporting, no telemetry, no update checks.
Requests Full Disk Access only to read protected areas (Trash, ~/Library) for local measurement; it is optional and never used to transmit data.

The Website (deadweightapp.com)

Hosted on GitHub Pages (GitHub may keep standard server request logs).
Fonts are self-hosted from this site; your browser loads them from deadweightapp.com, not from any third-party font CDN.
Sets no cookies and runs no analytics.
Downloads are served from GitHub Releases (GitHub records a download count).
If you email support@deadweightapp.com, your message and anything you include (paths, versions) reach the Developer's inbox.
The optional tip link goes to Ko-fi; payments are handled by Ko-fi and its processors under their own privacy terms.

Children

Deadweight collects no data from anyone, of any age. With no accounts, profiles, or trackers, there is nothing to collect from a child in the first place.
